Night of the Blood Moon (Interlude)
Information
Before the Cataclysm, the world almost ended once. Spared from total destruction by a mysterious alien core, the city of Skylis has spent the next half a century rebuilding itself, but inequality persists under the surface, stirring dissent among the people of the lower half.
In the midst of this fractured society, a girl born into resistance and a boy raised in privilege find their lives closely intertwined. One struggles to find her place outside the shadow of a revolutionary legacy; the other begins to question the comfortable truths he’s always accepted. As tensions rise in the city, they must confront the roles they’ve been given and decide who they want to be in a world that’s about to fall apart again.

Background
When thinking about this prequel to the main novel's world, I wasn't sure how I wanted to present it. Sure, a flashback through the lens of some random characters would work, but it felt like it was lacking something. Then I thought, what about a character whose lineage will play an important role in the present? That's how I got here — a forbidden romance between two characters whose identities are sort of "easter eggs" to the main story. I've never written a story centred on romance before, but I decided that it would be an interesting way to up the stakes and make this a little more emotional, as well as to tie the characters together in unexpected ways. If you ask me, I'd say that romance isn't really my forte, but it's also something I want to check off my writing bucket list, and this seems like the perfect chance for that. This story is currently on hold while I finish the main one, but I will update this page once I start writing it!
